Denmark have bounced back from defeats in their first two games against Finland and Belgium, winning in style as they downed Russia (4-1) and Wales (4-0). Those losses were understandable given they were the better team until Christian Erikson’s cardiac arrest in their all-Scandinavian matchup, while they made FIFA’s number one ranked side Belgium sweat for the points.

Prior to the tournament, Denmark had only lost three times 48 matches over 90 minutes going all the way back to November 2016 (W26-D19-L3). Two of those losses were also inflicted by Belgium, while the other saw a second-string side lose a friendly to Slovakia in 2018.

Denmark have now won 11 of their last 15 fixtures, with the exceptions two of those games with Belgium, that loss against Finland and a stalemate with Germany. In fact, excluding clashes with Belgium, England, Germany and that opening group game, Denmark have won 13 of 14 unbeaten fixtures and registered 11 clean sheets.
Kasper Hjulmand has only been in charge since August 2020 and although the approach remained the same, it has changed a little since losing Erikson. The usual 4-2-3-1 setup has altered to a back three, but given their last two outings, they appear just as capable in their new formation.

The Czech Republic and in particular star striker Patrik Schick have done very well this summer, downing Scotland on the opening day, holding Croatia to a draw and losing by just one goal to England in the group stages. They’ve also claimed a scalp in the knockouts, though were aided massively by Matthijs de Ligt’s sending off early in the second half, moments after the Netherlands squandered a golden opportunity to take the lead.

Although demonstrating that they’re no pushovers, this may be a step too far for the Czechs. However, we would expect their defence to hold up much better than Denmark’s last two opponents. Jaroslav Silhavy’s side have only conceded twice at these finals, and although England failed to sparkle going forwards in the group stages, the Netherlands were in fact the highest scorers at that point.

We wouldn’t be entirely sure of a Danish clean sheet either, given Patrik Schick now has five goals in as many games, with England the only side to keep the Leverkusen striker at bay. However, Denmark are a hard team to penetrate and are also boosted as both Yussuf Poulsen and Daniel Wass should be available again.
Eight of the Czech Republic’s nine defeats since September 2019 have come by just a single goal, with the exception against Italy, as five of them finished 1-0 and another two ending 2-1. Denmark should shade this one, and the multibet option looks profitable.
