Bolivia v Argentina

Argentina look set to top Group A with their final encounter against the weakest team in Bolivia, who are yet to register a point at these finals having scored just once and conceded six times. The underdogs are now just W2-D3-L16 since the start of 2019, with even one of those victories coming over minnows Haiti in a friendly. There wasn’t a single clean sheet to show for their efforts over this period, while at the other end they shipped at least two goals in 13 of the past 14 defeats.

Bolivia haven’t been dreadful at finding the net, with both teams scoring in 12 of their last 16 appearances, including eight of the past 10. That includes a 2-1 defeat the last time they encountered Argentina, going down 2-1 in La Paz, though they often find it slightly easier on their own patch where they’re aided by high altitude.

However, with this tournament taking place in Brazil, they may find registering on the board a lot more difficult. After taking a lead against Paraguay in their opening game, they’ve failed to find a way past either Chile or Uruguay, who on paper are the best sides in the group beyond Argentina. They haven’t been embarrassed though, losing by 1-0 and 2-0 scorelines, and though they may not make Argentina sweat for the points, they should avoid a humiliation.

The Albiceleste are yet to ignite so far with a 1-1 stalemate with Chile followed by back-to-back 1-0 victories over Uruguay and Paraguay. Six of their last seven appearances have featured fewer than three goals, with Argentina themselves scoring more than once in just one of their past five.

Argentina are without a defeat in 16 matches now, though seven ended in stalemates and they remain too reliant upon talisman Lionel Messi. They ought to be scoring more goals with the talent available, though they’re unlikely to deviate form their approach here. The main focus will just be to get the job done, obtain the points and set up an easier knockout tie, as well as most likely substituting star players once the breakthrough is secured.

Over the past decade, Argentina and Bolivia have squared off on nine occasions, but it hasn’t solely been one way traffic with the favourites W5-D3-L1 over this period. Over half of these games saw a maximum of two goals and although Argentina have won five of the last six, they’ve scored more than twice in just one of the last four meetings. Given Bolivia have conceded more than twice in just one of their last eight matches against anyone, the 2-0 correct score may be worth a small punt.

Argentina Win To Nil @ 1.66
0.25pts: Argentina 2-0 Correct Score @ 6.6
